Private Small-Group Swim Coaching

Conducted in your condominium or private pool

Current provides private, small-group swim coaching for families who value thoughtful instruction, consistency, and long-term confidence in the water.

Sessions are designed to be calm, focused, and intentional — allowing children to learn at an appropriate pace without being rushed or overlooked.

Session Structure

Coaching at Current is delivered in intentionally small group formats.

Ideal group size: 4 swimmers

Group formation: Families form their own groups

Location: Sessions are conducted exclusively in private pools (condominium or landed property)

Larger groups may require extended session durations

For very young or less independent swimmers, a parent may be required to be in the water for safety and comfort

This structure preserves learning flow, attention, and safety while maintaining a positive group dynamic.

We do not run large-volume classes.

Ability Grouping

Children are strongly encouraged to be grouped by similar ability levels.

Mixed-ability sessions can disrupt pacing and learning progression. Where mixed groups are unavoidable, expectations must be clearly aligned in advance.

Progress is most effective when children learn alongside peers at a comparable stage.

Learning Pathway

All sessions follow a fundamentals-first progression, guided by readiness rather than speed.

1

Water Confidence & Control

Focus on comfort in the water, breath control, submersion, and foundational freestyle and backstroke skills.

Flotation aids are not used by default, allowing children to develop genuine body awareness and control.

2

Stroke Development & Endurance

Refinement of freestyle and backstroke, increased swimming distances, introduction to breaststroke, and foundational survival skills.

3

Advanced Skills & Conditioning

Development of endurance, advanced survival techniques, and introduction to butterfly where appropriate.

Progression is steady, structured, and never rushed.

Younger Children (Under 4)

For children under the age of four, coaching at Current is approached differently.

At this developmental stage, sessions focus on water familiarity, comfort, and safe exposure, rather than formal stroke instruction. Motor coordination, attention span, and body control are still developing, and meaningful stroke progression typically comes later.

As such:

A parent must be in the water for all sessions

Sessions prioritise comfort, trust, and body awareness

No stroke outcomes are promised at this stage

These sessions are designed to build a calm, positive relationship with the water — laying the groundwork for more structured learning when the child is developmentally ready.

Under-4 coaching is offered selectively and only when expectations are clearly aligned.

Coaching Approach

All sessions at Current are guided by the following principles:

Comfort and confidence before distance or speed

No rushing children to demonstrate progress

Calm, focused, and structured sessions

Familiarity with the coach to build trust and consistency

Clear expectations to support group flow and learning

Swimming is a skill that develops over time.

We respect that process.

Coaches at Current

Coach J leads the philosophy at Current and personally coaches many students.

When scheduling, location, or capacity requires, sessions may be conducted by associate coaches who operate independently but are aligned in standards, approach, and professionalism.

Current is not a casual side-hustle platform.
It is a collective built around serious coaching.

Who Current Is Best For

Current works best with families who:

Understand children develop at different speeds

Value patience, consistency, and long-term growth

Respect the learning process

See coaching as a partnership, not childcare

When expectations are aligned, children thrive.
